Another work derived from my human body study series. This pose suggested a person twisted and contorted by circumstances, that arose from being caught in an emotional web.

Matthew Waitesmith was born in the U.S. to an American mother and British father. After attending schools in both England and the United States, he received a BS in Business degree and a MFA and went on to become an illustrator for a major West Coast department store chain. He moved into photo styling for West coast clients and won several advertising awards. He then returned to painting in a way by moving to makeup artistry and working in Milano Italy for 1 1/2 years. During the next decade he moved to New York where he worked in makeup and hair. Afterwards he moved to London, England and worked for 3 1/2 years. He was booked out of London for jobs in Milano, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Munich. He then moved into photography and worked for several magazines and publishers and has shot in major cities in North America and Europe. He was asked to join M·A·C by Jane McKay and Frank Angelo and then assumed the role of head of Artist Training for M·A·C Retail. He designed and developed the training department for M·A·C Retail and expanded the trainers network from 5 Trainers in 1993 to now over 350. The number of Employees and counters has grown tremendously during the period he lead the M·A·C Global Artist Training and Development. After “retiring” from 20 years at MAC, he has been a corporate consultant for the industry and continues to write, develop products and concepts, photograph, and create art works. His latest Project is founding and leading Artis LLC, which is a retail company that makes and distributes his Artis Brush designs and inventions. He continues to create art in several different genres and mediums.
