In my creation, "One Eye Open," I channel a deeply personal experience—a reflection of my own restlessness. This artwork springs from a vivid dream where I encountered a young man veiled in body paint, an image that resonated with my innermost feelings. He embodies my frequent inability to relax fully, a sentiment I know all too well—the necessity to stay perpetually alert, to keep one eye open even in moments meant for rest. As viewers immerse themselves in this piece, I yearn for them to feel an instant connection, to become intrigued, and to see a part of themselves within the painting. I hope they're moved to unravel the thoughts of this man, his silent vigilance mirroring their own unsaid narratives. Through the lens of generative art, I explore these shared human experiences. This medium, subject, and style are my tools for expressing the complex dance of emotions that many of us grapple with. This artwork is not just a representation; it's an extension of myself, an invitation to acknowledge and embrace the underlying tension between the need for calm and the instinct to remain watchful. It's a dialogue that speaks to the part of us that seldom quiets—the part that always keeps one eye open.

As a multidisciplinary artist, I derive inspiration from my empathy for humanity and an insatiable desire to explore the world's beauty and cultural complexity. I was born in 1963 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Penn State, where I took classes ranging from abnormal psychology to existentialism in order to broaden my creative mind. My extensive travels have enriched my perspective and significantly influenced my work. With my husband, Jeff, I have designed and built Tanglewild Gardens, a renowned botanical garden that doubles as our home and sanctuary in Austin, Texas. My career has spanned various fields including fine art, design, publishing, fashion, and technology, where I have had the privilege of leading global creative teams. My artwork, which has received international recognition, has been featured in prestigious publications and exhibitions and is collected by individuals worldwide. My art is a deeply personal and evocative blend of traditional and digital methods, incorporating AI as a collaborative tool. It delves into themes such as cultural diversity, injustice, and surrealism. As a gay man who has faced discrimination and lost many friends to AIDS, my work is imbued with profound empathy and a universally powerful impact. This combination of human emotion and innovative technique makes my art uniquely resonant. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my work with a global audience and to be part of such a diverse and impressive group of artists. If you find my work inspiring, I would be honored if you chose to follow me and stay updated on my latest projects. Thank you so much for taking the time to explore my creations.
