My earlier work consisted of landscapes in oils, inspired by John Constable and the Suffolk countryside where I live. Unfortunately, I developed arthritis which prevented the use of brushes, and standing for long periods became impossible ... so I had to stop painting. But in 2012 my daughter introduced me to Photoshop Elements 8.0 - which I still use today. I work on my laptop, manipulating pixels instead of paint and using the mouse instead of brushes. Although I still haven’t mastered painting the landscapes that I love so much, now I paint cat portraits, British birds, and abstracts as I find them emotionally satisfying. Straight lines can be a problem as my hand shakes sometimes. But, hey! Who said art had to be perfect...
