First Flight - Montage Cubist Style Print

^ Click on Prints (next to where it says Original) to see the print prices ^ A dark winters evening reading an old family newspaper from the 1930’s was the inspiration for this picture. The old newspaper includes many interesting stories and articles from a bygone age, including a flight across the Atlantic. I am intrigued by the ‘I will tell you all’ heading the post in the personal column. We will never know. This picture is a digital montage of different items and surfaces found around our home (glasses, an old bottle, wooden cabinet, an antique newspaper, wine etc.) My artwork explores the cross-overs between photography, collage, digital art and cubist paintings as a way of capturing memories and imagination. The pictures are created using a pen and ink style digitally, based upon my own photographs, and are printed with high-definition inks on stretched canvas. This particular arrangement is loosely inspired by a 1913 painting by Juan Gris (1887-1927) called ‘Glasses, Newspaper and Bottle of Wine’.
