As an artist who identifies as a member of the LGBTQA community, I draw my inspiration from many sources. My work is deeply influenced by the profound impression left by masters such as Wassily Kandinsky and Mark Rothko, artists known for their bold abstract style. Moreover, as someone navigating my mental health journey, I find inspiration in artists like Yayoi Kusama, who bravely channeled her experiences into her art. I resonate with their courage and aim to bring similar authenticity to my creations. When viewers engage with my work, I hope they experience an emotional catharsis. I want them to immerse themselves in the vibrant colors and bold lines, feel the oscillations between chaos and calm, and witness the natural resilience within our human condition. By showcasing my journey through mental health, I aim to normalize such discussions, inspire empathy, and dispel the shadows often associated with it. I chose abstract art as my medium because it best allows me to capture the ineffable nature of the mind's landscape. A certain liberation comes with creating without constraints, a freedom that enables me to accurately portray the complexity of human emotion and mental health struggles. Using bright, bold colors is a conscious choice; I want to contrast the dark stigma associated with mental health and portray it as a spectrum of emotion teeming with life. My style is as raw and intense as the experiences it represents, serving as a mirror to the tumultuous yet vibrant inner world of those grappling with their mental well-being. As an artist, I am committed to using my work as a platform for discussion, a tool for awareness, and, hopefully, a beacon of hope for those navigating their mental health journeys.
