The play of black and white lines creates an optical illusion that at once expands and contracts in an interplay of logic and confusion, clarity and dizziness. As an artist, I research the meaning of objects in positioning them against the light or in the darkness, in different settings with visual effects. OP ART is the visual awakening to invisible meaning that escapes daily life. The play of vertical and horizontal lines enmeshed together, unbreakable and harmonious, make for a strong confrontation and unforgettably formidable though still neutral entrance. The optical pattern for me is a research and testing medium that I must use as a tool for expansion and retreat. It expresses the inner tools an artist puts into his art expression and disposition to awaken and express an untouchable reality visually. 'Illusioning' is my basis for visual experiments, coming and going, weaving in and out, leaving and returning from the solid base on which I stand. It can be compared to a fisherman throwing a line in the water and seeing how little disturbance his perfectly targeted throw creates in the form of expanding circles. For the fisherman, the less, the better. For the artist, the more, the more effective and adventuresome. To test new boundaries is the artist's task. It is Liquid4 for…more. As long as the throw is JUST RIGHT. This work comes in digital format. As an 'artist original', it is available at the online gallery in a limited edition of 6 that can be ordered in canvas. A certificate of authenticity will be made available if you contact me via this webpage. It can also be ordered as an 'open edition' giclee print on paper on this site. For an NFT version, please consider contacting the webpage.

In Rome, Italy, I was drawing and painting since childhood. When I arrived in New York City with $50 in my pocket, I called a few advertising agencies and got my first job working in the Empire State building. I became a sought-after commercial artist working with Geoffrey Hayes, art director of well-known advertising stints such as his famed Absolute Vodka campaign. My collages of New York City in surrealistic postcards were published and sold by the Metropolitan museum in 1979. I translated my love for the Old Masters into watercolor portraits of their works. On the other hand, my love for surrealism expresses my present stage of introspection in digital works of Surrealistic and Abstract-Expressionistic art. I was photographer Francesca Woodman's boyfriend at the time of her death and I introduce my photo of her as I fused it with my work.
