ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Lady in White is a digital C print composited over a painted collage background. The subject in the photo conjured from a poem I wrote about a fallen angel in white who rises out of the water seeking redemption. Ai Prompt Art created the Angel on a digital platform—a figment of the artist's imagination described through prompts. The art process was achieved through the marriage of both Ai and classic 2D combinations. The background art is a labor of love, the result of layering three painted abstract plates together to create a fractal world of shattered colors and geometric squares and rectangles filled with color. Lastly, the edges are darkened to give the impression of intimacy. The artwork is a metaphor for redemption. As children, we fall to earth as angels in innocence, but through our experience in life, our innocence dissipates. We are always caught up in a struggle of good versus the carnal.

Marc VanDermeer who goes by the online nom de guerre, VanDi, is a mixed media digital artist from the USA. A traditional abstract artist started painting at the age of ten. He was initially taught by his artist/sculpture and poet mother, Carol Levy Vandermeir. His formal art education began at the Philadelphia College of Art (UArts) in 1971, graduating with a degree in film in 1976. He followed with continued part-time education at SVA, Parsons, and Silvermine School of Art. Working across a pastiche of artistic genres and style in a creative mélange of thought-provoking fantasy and surreal imagery. His body of work expresses his flirtation with photography, painting, and digital media. He is crossing modern expressionism, street art, collage, classicism, landscape painting, pop art, minimalism in an artistic mash-up of award-winning art. VanDi explains, “Legacy for me is paramount; I see myself as carving that legacy each time I produce something new.” When asked to define his style or influences, Marc replies It’s challenging to describe my current style, which is dictated by both anatomical observation and mood. Choosing sometimes to express his thoughts and philosophy on canvas or the digital screen. Producing colorful mood evoking art or graphics in black & white." The artist, a lover of classic art and new NFT media, has been in over twenty group and virtual shows in the past twelve months alone. “Art is both an addiction and cathartic part of my daily day.” Marc has no current representation; his physical work is available on Saatchi Art and his website.
