View In My Room
What could she be thinking about? 'Lost In Her Thoughts' is part of the Vignettes series. This series is about the simplicity of the subject and the work on extracting its essence with minimal distractions. This work is is heavily inspired by Art Nouveau, and more specifically the English branch of it. The woman has always been at the centre of it. Celebrated by many artists like Mucha, Klimt, and more, she has become an emblem of the movement. The two dimensional aspect of this portrait and the use of single fine lines also fills the brief. The simplicity of the outlines and monochromia allow the viewer to focus on her facial expression. This work is about capturing that fleeting moment where the mind wanders off. A door to her inner world.

French illustrator based in Sydney. My artistic journey started with the theory before the practice. I studied art history at the Ecole du Louvre, Paris, where I specialised in the Nineteenth century, and specialised-specialised in Art Nouveau. Fast forward a few years, I now call Sydney home and am the one holding the brush. My digital illustrations are infused by Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Naïve art and traditional tattoos influences. My work is either about spontaneity or discipline. Rarely both. I find solace in copying, studying and practicing. Then come the days where none of this is relevant, where I need to create, express, quick, now! My style is in constant evolution. I invite the viewer to witness the changes in the shapes, colours and subjects as my work matures in an ever-changing world. You will find that my art is about the process more than it is about the final idea. It reflects the emotional conflict that is the urge to answer to the empirical rules of drawing and as well as giving my inner world its own voice. If there is a place where my soul meets the world, it is in my illustrations. I hope you find your happy place in it too. I know where my work starts, but I can never tell you where it will end. Let yourself be guided and see where the journey takes you.
