ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This is a print of the original drawing that is part of NorwaysColourX 2067-v0 mixed media triptych (which is also available on Saatchiart). Colour souvenirs of grey and green Norway found their way into drawings. Pitt artist Brush pigment ink markers on the Hahnemühle Digital FineArt PhotoRag paper allow a work process which resembles painting in layers with traditional paints. The prints are made from high resolution scans of the original drawing. Some of the pigments produce a satin gloss, even though the PhotoRag paper itself is matt. For photo reproductions both Fine Art paper and Photopaper are a good choice.

Irmin Maria Damm *1959 in Boppard, Germany lives and works in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Germany after many years in the European capital of Brussels, Belgium. Active in a vibrant local and national art scene, photography and drawing have been predominant in Irmin's more recent art activity. A closer look reveals the inherent link with her paintings. Work groups show her broad and conceptual approach. „NorwayColourX“ combines landscape photography with ink pen drawings and digitally manipulated photos in a classical triptych form. The drawings are abstract, capture impressions of light and colour. The lines reveal the gesture of the hand. They are painterly worked in countless layers of pigment based inks on photo paper. „BLACKBOARD“ paintings recall school boards but transform mathematical curves in decorative and floral gestures. Irmin prepares the acrylic paint using materials as chalk and charcoal. The object character of „UN-STABLE“, a colourful series of small scale paintings, allows to play with the multiple or single piece works. They may but do not need to be hang on a wall. “LABOR” comprises installations and sculptural work which have been shown in solo shows in Essen, Duisburg and Basel. The variations of FOLDER objects originally were part of these environments.
