Philodendron Eerubescens; clinging on to you. Print

Artwork: Philodendron Eerubescens; clinging on to you. As Saint Augustine said, “Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you.” I recently came across the Philodendron erubescens (in Greek, phileo meaning love and dendron indicating tree), together a tree that loves to climb trees. If you ever come across this tree, you will find this particular plant seated comfortably on a solid tree wrapped around it. When I saw this tree, not only did I find it beautiful, I felt this sense of the philodendron holding on, wrapping itself around the tree, that drew me to take a second, third and basically, I look at this tree every day I pass it during my walks. It reminds me of faith, clinging onto Christ even if it is on a thread. Tightly, yet comfortably knowing that it is going to be alright. That led me to illustrate this lovely bright cheery plant that loves climbing trees. This sense of finding comfort and strength in its fellow tree friend, just as I do in my loving companion.
