Sunil Abraham's practice occupies a productive tension between the physical and the digital, the gestural and the composed. Working across canvas and screen, Abraham constructs image - environments where conventional distinctions between medium and concept are deliberately held open. The work does not resolve into neat categories. Paintings carry the velocity of digital images; digital compositions retain the weight and intimacy of handmade marks. This formal ambiguity is not incidental - it is the central argument of the practice. Abraham's primary subject is identity understood as process: not a fixed quality to be represented, but a field of ongoing negotiation shaped by movement, memory, and cultural encounter. The recurring presence of the human figure - particularly in its feminine articulations - functions as an anchor within compositions that otherwise resist stasis. These figures do not pose. They transition. Chromatic intensity operates throughout the work as both formal strategy and emotional syntax. Abraham's palettes are not illustrative but structural: color delineates relationships, marks emotional register, and carries meaning that form alone cannot bear. The four series collected here - States of Motion, Inner Landscapes, Feminine Narratives, and Fluid Architectures - represent a sustained engagement with a single underlying question: what does it feel like to be in the process of becoming? Renowned painter and mentor Arunanshu Chowdhury aptly captures the essence of Sunil's artistry, describing it as possessing "pure aggression, vigour, and personal impact." Indeed, Sunil's work transcends mere aesthetics, resonating with viewers on a deeply personal level, leaving an indelible impression that lingers long after the canvas is beheld.
