Ruth Kedar is an artist and designer whose work is a vibrant tapestry woven from personal narratives and the cultural influences of her diverse upbringing. Born in Brazil, Kedar’s early life was immersed in a world of vivid colors and pulsating rhythms. Immigrating to Israel at sixteen, she found solace in art and mathematics. This formative experience instilled in her a profound appreciation for nuance and diversity, a theme that continues to shape her artistic vision. A rigorous academic path led to an architecture degree from the Israel Institute of Technology, followed by a master’s in design from Stanford University. This intellectual foundation, combined with a natural creative flair, propelled her into a successful design career, including the design of the iconic Google logo. While immersed in the design world, Kedar's passion for art persisted. Under the mentorship of Nathan Oliveira at Stanford, she discovered the transformative power of monoprinting. This medium became a cornerstone of her artistic practice, offering a fertile ground for experimentation and serendipity. Kedar's artwork is a dynamic interplay of precision and spontaneity, structure and intuition. Influenced by her diverse experiences, her work is a visual dialogue exploring the interplay between creativity and logic. Integrating new technologies with time-honored techniques, Kedar's art is a continuous dialogue between tradition and innovation. This pursuit of artistic evolution is evident in her practice of revisiting older works, breathing new life and meaning into them in a process she calls "Conversations with my younger self". I invite you to explore the vibrant world of Ruth Kedar's art, where each piece tells a unique story waiting to be discovered."
