ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This forms part of my Red Riding Hood Collection a series of aI generated artworks based around women’s safety and fighting for the right to roam freely without fear. Short cut is based around the idea that many women often take a short cut through certain areas to avoid a lengthy walk home. Sadly it is often this decision that gets many women in trouble and in danger. The question is, why should women feel they are putting themselves in danger by taking a short cut home? We do it all the time. I avoid the park at night. I walk near houses and lights. I sometimes take risks and walk through a park area to avoid a twenty minute extra walk. This image is to remind us that women are often put in danger by taking a shorter route home. It’s a piece to make us reflect upon the boundaries and constraints women are often under in order to get through life’s activities without putting themselves in danger. Sadly the Wolfe could be lurking.
