About The Artwork

Supermarket Mary is twenty two years old. She is a singer in a school bluegrass band she setup with her friends. When her father's business went bust she took a job at the local supermarket. Her dream of going on the road had to be delayed. She decided to stay close to family and take nine month off and become a surrogate. Her band members thought she was crazy for doing this. Now that she feels the aches and pains and has morning sickness she agrees but she says when life gives you lemons you have to make babies! For this work I was inspired by Magnum photographers such as Martin Parr who takes images of ordinary people in a documentary form as well as Annie Leibovitz who would stage her subjects. Supermarket Mary in this case is however is not a real person nor a model, she is a digital creation.

I'm a British Iranian who lives in Switzerland. I started my Artistic life with photography and Drama. Later on I started to paint and make sculptures. I also started to write short stories. I like storytelling in the form of fictional characters that have a backstory. If you see the work there is a story for each of these invented characters. For many years I used my Art for Human rights awareness. I invented a new style called DaGod which was an offshoot of Dada but with protest against religious dogma. I'm in the middle of uploading my work so what you see here is a very small set.
