Body Memory is a project aiming to investigate how we can memorize and capture presence of the human (female) body and experience entering someone else's body. This piece represents digital images of my 3D body materialized in textures like gold, silver, glass and plastic. Body as a ready made-fetish / Karnel art / Hybridization / Body Memory questions the notion of hybridization and the possibilities of staging a new image of myself, trying to (re)invent myself. As Orlan, a French artist, says, “My goal was to visually sculpt my own body to reinvent the self and transgress social constructs”. The body today is becoming modified and nakedness is not possible; even when we are naked we are wearing all kind of codes. Furthermore, this work was inspired by Michel Foucault's book "The History of Sexuality" which argues that in Western society "scientia sexualis" has been created, named by Foucault as the science of sexuality. During its inception in the 17th century, it was originally based on a phenomenon opposed to Ars erotica: the confession. This is not just a question of the Christian confession, but more generally the urge to talk about it. A fixation with finding out the "truth" about sexuality arises, a truth that is to be confessed. It is as if sexuality did not exist unless it is confessed.
