About The Artwork
This is part of an experiment using a digital photo of one of my paintings, pulling colour layers via vector scan, then recombining select layers with new hues, gradients, blends and opacities. I am really pleased with the collection that came out of this exercise. Tropical Aqua exceeded expectations. I submitted it to Le Galeriste in Montreal for inclusion in my wearable art line. To my astonishment, their curators chose four of my pieces for inclusion in their main collection "Tropical Paradise" which went live in March 2022. I have minted my first NFTs on OpenSea to celebrate (search for mnemescat) and the clothing at www.legalerist.com/marquita.milliken

After making very little art for nearly 25 years, Marquita was introduced to live competitive painting in 2016 which rekindled her passion for expressing herself visually. Since then, she has competed 15 times in four cities in two provinces. Fascinated with patterns of light and colour, her work is heavily influenced by impressionist styles and organic abstractions found in nature, including reflections in water, tree shapes, the changing sky and interesting faces. She primarily works in acrylic paint, soft pastels, mixed media, and has begun experimenting with digital media. Marquita is self-represented and takes commissions on a limited basis.
