Cesare Beccaria was born in Rome on April 23, 1968. He is the fourth child of Anna Maria Mercuri and Alberto Beccaria, a shoes designer. His artistic ability was first manifested during his early teenage years, when in 1980, he participated in an artistic contest open to all Junior High School Students of the City of Rome. Cesare won first prize. It was in his father's workshop where he first learned techniques on how to work the wood, such as carving and incision. After receiving his Technical Design Diploma, Cesare attended the San Giacomo's Art Academy in Rome, where he focused on Decoration and Liberal Art Language of the Nude. In 1999 he relocated to Cordoba, Argentina for one year. Four years later, he returned, attracted by, as he expresses: "the vast empty spaces." In 2000 he returned to Rome to work on several projects such as sculptures for public parks and cathedrals for Italy, Japan and Canada. That same year, Cesare was approached by SCENOTECNO asking him to design the stage in the production The Ten Commandments which was to debut in Paris. Cesare has traveled around the globe with the purpose of being exposed to the natural diversity of different people and their cultures. He has been to all parts of Europe, Asia, Latin America and the United States. The artist lives and works in Argentina, Rome and New York.
