ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Always taking inspiration from the natural world Fi uses the free flowing inks and bleach to quietly create images of those things that bring joy to us all. Allowing the inks to flow, and patiently coaxing them into place, Fi brings snapshots of life that can be missed all too briefly. As children we were often driven through a nature reserve as part of our journey into town. Perhaps it is there where Elby’s love of anything long eared comes from, as rabbits ran in abundance in the surrounding feilds! Fi regularly paints those things that we remember from childhood, either making them beautiful or revelling in the joy we found. Fi, Elby and Jack are part of the ‘inner family’, beckynewellart. Living with Dissociative Identity Disorder, as a result of extreme childhood trauma, several personalities live within one body each finding talents of their own. Jack, Fi, Elby and sometimes Tom are creative. Having worked professionally as an artist prior to Complex PTSD art was a natural tool to learn to communicate through, both within the ‘inner family’ and to the public.
