Artists’ Portraits (2013-2014) The Artists’ Portraits series by Barrett Ashley Johnson represent a series of visual works combining information technology with famed artists and their historically-referenced colorways. In these works, the artist chose six 19th-21st centuries historic artists: Claude Monet, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Georgia O’Keeffe, Andy Warhol, and David Hockney as subject matter for creating the relating QR Code. After creating a QR Code of each featured artist’s name, Johnson screen-printed the QR Code artist’s name onto the Sennelier La Carte Pastel Card. He then chose a limited number of colorways referential to each artist and applied Sennelier soft pastels. Each colorway is represented by a limited number of ten each. Albeit, each Pastel Card image is hand-applied. Variations between multiple images of the same Image/Edition can be expected. A light sealer has been applied. Ships in an Acid-Free Sleeve.
