ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This work is a response to strange weather patterns and climate change and was completed with unique techniques using I developed using powdered graphite. It is one in a series of perpetual daily drawings. Each drawing is one piece of a single massive work titled Daydrawing - an artistic endeavor aimed at linking people around the planet. Individual panels, such as this, present keyhole views into an alternate universe - hallucinatory daydreams that respond in part to daily observations, and also to continuing narratives within the Daydrawing universe. Collect multiples to craft your own narrative.

I am an Artist, Designer, Educator, and Pataphysician working in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by way of Philadelphia, Chicago, and Pittsburgh. I thrive on collaborations with chance encounters and forces of nature and my projects propose imaginary solutions to impossible problems. Recently I served eight weeks as the 2023 Artist in Residence at The Dome House in Door County, WI, facilitated by the Miller Art Museum, and as the year-long 2022-23 Artist In Residence at Milwaukee’s prestigious Pfister Hotel. Other notable residencies have been located in Iceland, Ireland, and Maryland. The work featured here is primarily from the Daydrawing project. Every day I complete a drawing and each of these is a piece of a much larger object called Daydrawing. Since January 1, 2016, I have added one panel per day to the project. This work has no defined size and is in continuous creation; it's scope eludes traditional notions of time and space. Each daily addition is rendered in powdered graphite and is a keyhole view into a supplementary universe, a hallucinatory daydream that responds in part to observations of the world around me, and in part to narratives already at play within the Daydrawing universe. I have recently shared my expertise through teaching positions at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee’s School of Architecture and Urban Planning and Peck School of the Arts, as well as at Ripon College. My work, exhibited widely in galleries and museums, is also housed in hundreds of private collections across the United States and several international collections. I am represented at Portrait Society Gallery of Contemporary Art.
