Death of Poseidon was the first piece done for Robert Morgan's Dysfunctional Mythology series. It was inspired by the mighty god of the sea, who was caught up in the brutal slaughter of the whales. Lapinus's unique approach to the human form has made a huge impact on art lovers across Britain. By fusing an aesthetic of stained glass and detailed coloured pencil drawing, he encourages us to look at people with new eyes, and offers a contemporary take on portraiture. Lapinus was born and raised in Krakow, Poland. Although he never received any artistic education, his passion for art has been a central theme throughout his life. He moved to London at the age of 20 and slowly started developing his hobby into something more meaningful. With encouragement of artist Patrick Hughes, he started working on his first exhibition inspired by Greek mythology. His intimate solo exhibition called "Retrospective of Dysfunctional Mythology" presents us with a collection of drawings manifesting a modern take on mythological iconography. The portraits executed on paper with coloured pencils, put forward a vulnerable side of mighty gods with a daring and idiosyncratic perspective fused with an explosion of colour and time consuming technique. In 2016, Lapinus took a bit u-turn in his creative style, dropped pencils as his medium of choice, and swapped it for paint and diamond dust. This change resulted with two group shows in London, where he showcased amongst the best - Marc Quinn, The Clapham Brothers, Schoony and Lauren Baker. "Art should be a constant evolution, revolution, and and endurance in making the change. When you become too comfortable with your style, it becomes flat and empty" Lapinus
