When I was drawing this I was thinking about freedom of thought, creativity, concepts of sanity and mental illness. How often do we, consciously or subconsciously, stunt our creativity because of what is considered acceptable, a norm. Is it a process that we are implicit in, that we impose on ourselves or do the reactions of others also shape our thoughts and ideas? There are many reasons why we might self-censor ourselves, I think it's not just a common experience for artists but also for people in daily life. And once we stop exercising freedom of thought, we find it harder to make new connections, to come up with new solutions, and to think outside our usual frames of reference.
