Morocco
Ewa Potocka is a Polish artist and designer living in Morocco since 2013. Moving to the desert prompted her to return to painting. Her previous art and design practice focused on interactive media art, interactive game design, mobile applications, augmented reality, motion design and video and UX Design. Her professional experience also includes graphic design, video editing, animation, illustration and publications. As a pioneer of interactive and network art in Poland, she created the first online VR game in Poland (2000). As an intermedia artist, she presents her works in solo and group exhibitions in Europe, the USA and Canada. She is the author of videos, interactive installations, as well as a painter. She has also been an academic teacher in art and design since 2005. She has worked at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and the Academy of Humanities and Economics in Lodz. She is currently an assistant professor at the Faculty of Design at EMADU Euromed University in Fez, Morocco. In 2010, she received her PhD in intermedia art from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. In the recent paintings she focuses on depicting observations of life in Morocco, where traditions mix with modernity and the ubiquitous virtual reality in which we live using the internet and mobile applications. Her visual discussions with artificial intelligence aim to rehumanise images of human beings and also ironically comment on reality. Feminist motifs are particularly close to her heart, which is why she often returns to the theme of the impower image of women, when reflecting on the changing conditions in women's lives.
