About The Artwork

Have you ever thought about what is linking all the souls or what’s the thing which connects the whole world? What do you imagine when you hear the word ‘Food’? Presenting 8 works from a series of 40 drawings. “Food for Every Soul” The food I am talking about here is not just limited to the food we eat. The food we need for brain, thoughts, spirituality and to connect with soul. There are some forms inspired by rice and meat, al-so some abstract form. Rice is the grain which is consumed by every single person in the world which establishes a strong statement in the series of drawing. I see myself in every surrounding. I feel that I am connected with each element of this universe. My success is when everyone will connect to at least one element in the space whether it is recognizable or abstract. The series has taken a year to complete. The paper I have used is fabriano translucent paper.

United Arab Emirates

Shrutika Gosavi (b.1987, India) is an internationally multi-awarded artist living in Dubai, UAE since 2011. Her latest achievements are, her selection by the Sikka Art Festival Dubai Culture 19-2020 committee to participate with her series of artworks ‘The Leftover’ as well as awarded with ‘Rove Emerging Artist Prize 2020’ at World Art Dubai UAE. Shrutika’s art is intuitive as well inspired by the human body, nature, spirituality, identity and perception matters. Her observations and experiences of her surrounding environment contribute to the development of a series of works, where she processes the significance of the external world to the human behavior and body. Her art is mainly described as contemporary figurative, with expressionistic qualities, encoded with messages and storytelling, while in many of her artworks she uses symbolism, and surrealistic elements such as in her series ‘When I travel in Dreams’, communicating and expressing visually her thoughts and feelings. Human forms are the main element in Gosavi’s artworks, characterized by their exaggerated gestures and body parts, are mostly faceless: “The expression in my paintings comes from the gestures of the full body. And I always connect the theme with the general atmosphere. Hence for me, facial features are not that important.”
