HUNGER The painting "HUNGER" tells a story about my struggle with anorexia, but also about the fragility of the human body. Self-destruction. Destruction. Slow degradation. Fading away. In the painting you can see human tissues and ribs penetrating the geometric grid of rotting vegetation. The dynamics of the painting symbolizes my flow and race of thoughts, the fight against desires. I created this particular painting in the CINIBA library in Katowice, where I often hid from eating, doing 8-hour fasts. The thin lines resemble my pulse back then. My body didn't have the strength to produce energy to keep me warm, so I would sit there in the sun and draw to distract myself from hunger and emotional suffering.
