Kibabu in Retirement Print

Kibabu, a beautiful old lowland silverback gorilla, was well know all over the world as he had lived and travelled many places procreating and leaving behind a new generation of his offspring to the worlds gorillas insurance policy. He was a great advocate for his cousins in the wild, inspiring and educating the next generation of animal lovers and advocates. The reference photo I used for this drawing, I took at Mogo Zoo in NSW Australia where Kibabu lived comfortably in his retirement until the day he died of old age in 2020. I love drawing large scale wildlife as I feel its the best subject for my dark, soft, flowing style of charcoal. My two biggest drawings that were the main attraction at my first solo exhibition were of the magnificent Kibabu.
