In my opinion this man is the best bass player in the world, he is definitely high in the ranks of best musicians in the world. This man creates music that is so different it needs to be given its own genre, he plays the bass in a way virtually no one else can and creates great music. I think this is a man that stands out not just because he can, but because he has to, the kind of art he creates with his bass guitar is something that cannot be faked. It is so far from the norm that it could only come from a mind trained or born with the ability to think against the grain. Lyrics like "I'll run against the grain till the day I drop" are at their most relevant when sung by Les Claypool.
