Always a student of the visual arts, Erik has explored traditional and non-traditional forms of art making. With a B.F.A. from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, M.F.A. from MassArt in Boston & a strong formal background in drawing and painting, he has a unique understanding of contemporary art practices, notable experience and skills. Discovery is my motivation, excited when Art & Science converge. I am inspired by familiar surroundings often overlooked or ignored. I work from photo reference and memory together, capturing a moment in time, before it evaporates. Nuance within the ever–changing landscape. I seek gaps in the common spaces around us. Through drawing, the world becomes clear and ensures my work remains honest.”
