ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Made in 2011. Phase: Depression & Dissociative Symptoms. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2012, so I decided to create a project named 'Phases', in which I visualized bipolar disorder's symptoms through drawings during 8 years. I also tracked my journey of experimentation with all kinds of treatments and therapies, until I finally became stable with the right psychiatric treatment, habits, nutrition, and education.

One of my goals is to bring attention to this condition, since about 46 million people globally experience it and it's often misunderstood. I've been stable for years and that has made it difficult to create new pieces, but I'm still a mental health advocate, devoted to a career in behavioral sciences. Studying mental disorders and the impact of the social and physical surroundings on them helps improve the strategies used to manage (my own and others) mental health issues.
