Maya Angelou Print

Maya Angelou was an American memoirist, popular poet, and civil rights activist. She published seven autobiographies, three books of essays, several books of poetry, and is credited with a list of plays, movies, and television shows spanning over 50 years. I am inspired by the stories and struggles of these historical figures who fought hard to walk the path to liberty and freedom for themselves and their people. My hope is that my audience experiences a realistic portrait with its detailed textures while looking into the eyes of these prominent figures. I chose charcoal since it allows for textures, shades, and beautiful formation. I like the contrast of black and white with a vintage colorful background to show the timeless power, strength and inspiration these individuals hold in our world.
