ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This art takes you on a journey with me thru time. Following my fashion career from the beginning of fashion career. Inspired fashion shows in NYC to South Beach Miami. After the impact of 9/11, like many I had to start all over again. I was very ill after 9/11 and was advised by my doctor that if I did not leave NYC I would die. So I closed all my stores and placed my schooling on hold. I lost a lot of my hair. I lost weight went down to 80 pounds. It was a very scary time all around because I was fighting for my life. This art covers the beginning of my fashion modeling, design career in NYC to my miraculous recovery in Miami from illnesses directly related to the 9/11 attack. At age 18, with money saved up from modeling industry and selling and making jewelry I opened my first boutique in NYC. I hand painted the interior and exterior. I purchased all the equipment and created the advertisements including a website that My sister learned HTML for and later on I had web designer. My sister was a law student at the time and learned coding to assist me in the creation of my website. At the time, I was a first year full time fashion design degree student at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Due to the heavy workload and the requirement that all classes had to be “A” to graduate, I switched to part time and opened my second Boutique, the “sugar Daddy” at age 19 and opened my third at age 21. All while attending college part time and going on auditions for acting and modeling shoots and shows. I worked everyday. I had to meet school deadlines and make sales. It was a very crucial time. It was all very hard to keep a grasp on everything. It did not leave much free time. 9/11 threw a wrench in my plans and set me back a decade. This art is my attempt to chronicle those times both good and bad and to my patrons, followers and friends fashion forward with me to the present. You should know me a little better now!
