I am a self-taught multidisciplinary artist creating under the brand name Ostbiju, based on the sun-drenched Mediterranean coast of Antalya, Turkey. My creative practice is a profound dialogue between ancestral heritage, ancient mythology, and contemporary fine art, centered around the eternal concept of the Woman as the Great Goddess. The core of my artistic identity was shaped in childhood by my grandmother, who passed down to me ancient, time-honored methods of craftsmanship, textile arts, and the sacred knowledge of botanical lore. Today, I breathe new life into these traditional roots, using them as a bridge to transport ancient archetypes into the modern world. Later, my background in philology further refined my understanding of form, myth, and cultural storytelling. Living in Anatolia—a cradle of ancient civilizations—I find an endless echo of these divine female archetypes within the timeless ruins of ancient Mediterranean cities like Perge and Sagalassos. My artwork spans from atmospheric watercolor landscapes captured under museum-quality glass to highly textured oil paintings and avant-garde mixed media objects. A significant part of my practice is dedicated to textile installations and wearable art. By merging ancestral decorative techniques with contemporary vision, I create hand-embroidered sculptural masks, collectible miniature portraits, and fine art objects. In these works, Japanese glass beads, natural stones, and deep velvets transcend their material nature to become tactile, mystical narratives. Every piece I create is an act of reviving ancient faces and channeling the sacred, empowering energy of the divine feminine.
