My name is Stuart Buehler. Born and raised in Niles, California. Vast play land, 2 railroad lines, seasonal creek, gravel pits, foothills, row crops, orchards, largest nursery in California. A fine, very fine place to play and live. I was born country and plan to die country. The large trucks full of scrap metal and railroad cars, were all headed for the salvage steel mill, an immense, dirty place. Scrap metal littered the railroad tracks and roadway. I started collecting junk at an early age, 12-14 years old and decided to be an artist. I knew real beatniks! I read the famous Life magazine issue. It talked of beats, bohemians, musicians, and poets. Why not? I had a gut level feeling I would never do college. I am 99% self-taught. One man in my life made art a pure joy! William Jamison of Portland, Oregon gallery fame. We were a team for ten years and he passed. I have continued to make art on a daily basis for 55 years. Currently I have stopped creating sculptures and returned to drawing and painting combined with mixed media.
