PABLO RUIZ PICASSO Print

Being born on Picasso's birthday, October 25th, I have spent my entire life studying Picasso's work. I traveled to Malaga to his childhood home, visited his museum in Spain, and after nearly thirty years I felt it appropriate to render a drawing of the Maiestro, hence I give you "Pablo Ruiz Picasso" rendered in Helsingborg, Sweden in 2003. The material is an homage to Picasso's famous finding objects and as a part of the creative process. Using a simple marker is something Pablo would do, with a splash of oil in the background. Picasso stated "There is nothing harder than drawing a line," so using a simple black thin marker explored his challenge. This piece is done through "Automatic Drawing," or "Channeling," done quickly, perhaps an hour or so, max. This is drawn from emotion and feeling, not looking at any subject, material or other rendering. It is done from within, from how I emotionally understand the subject. ~Winston
