My work is an exploration of the inclination to impose form and definition upon the abstract. I am inspired by organic lines and curves I come across in nature. Each piece begins with an idea of one line, shape, or phrase I want to explore, forming and reforming through small, additive strokes, stitches or words. An interest in repetition and flow weaves throughout all my work, with different mediums yielding varying evocations. Graphite lends itself to reification and pragnanz - the suggestion of known forms; thread lends itself to an exercise in achieving balance and harmony through small, thoughtful movements; and abstractions of colorful words create landscapes of reiterated value.
