My art is an exploration of the surrealist technique, Fumage. The art of drawing with smoke. I am influenced by the raw emotional strengths of the abstract expressionists. These influences are layered in each piece, drawn out by my use of flame to create passionate mark making, furthering my compositions by sculpting the soot. My desire is to use the flame as a tool to explore compositions that will carry great emotional weight. I aim to instil a feeling of delicate balance in each of my works, found in my use of a destructive force as a tool for creation. I endeavour to evolve my art, exploring new ideas, subjects and materials.
