ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"Shy on fire" originated in the first model session, and the only one, with Bastien. "He was shy," I thought at first, but when John joined, he turned out to be less shy than I thought. If you compared "Shy on fire" to Bastien's first drawing, you wouldn't believe this is the same man ... with John ... but he's not shy! What I really like about drawings and paintings is that you get into an atmosphere that was actually not intended for others. But yes, I stood by and looked at it ... and painted it. It also became a very nice and intimate evening ... with the three of us.
