I was just so overwhelmed by the sunlight pouring down the hillsides above Loch Tay in Scotland, down through the old woods, and just had to draw it. I was experimenting with negative space in drawings at the time and tried to use it to give an impression of light and movement.

I am influenced by my upbringing in a coastal town, my experience of disability, and by the figurative tradition from Caravaggio through Vermeer to Spencer and Freud.
