ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Aerial cityscape of Belfast, Northern Ireland. A city ravaged by countless years of hardship, hatred and senseless loss of life on these very streets and in these very homes, with undercurrents simmering to this day – yet there remains a warm joviality to its people that shall forever endure. Whilst depicting this street scene from above, I was reminded of these juxtaposed contexts by the sunlight catching the chimneys, of the embers that lie in the fireplaces below and the stories they have to tell.
