I love to hike and where I live has many trails alongside the wetlands. I often see the Red-winged black birds fly down and perch on the cattails. One day I decided it was time to draw one as I find them beautiful. This is my Red-winged Black bird that has found his summer refuge among the wetland c...

Inspired by light, color, and nature. Elizabeth realized at a very young age that art and creating were her passion, her calling. After graduating with a degree in Graphic Design, she commenced working at an advertising agency in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Elizabeth enjoyed city life, but an opportunity arose to travel across Canada and throughout the United States with fellow artists. This adventure provided her with invaluable artistic insights and enriching life experiences. Upon returning to Ontario, Canada, she settled in a smaller town in Northern Ontario. Here, Elizabeth started up a successful illustration studio called Illustratus. Elizabeth showcased her artistic versatility by creating illustrations and designs for businesses like PetSmart, as well as fine art commissions for collectors such as NHL hockey players. Several years later, on a meditation retreat in New York, United States, a momentous event occurred in Elizabeth's life. It was a time of deep introspection. This profoundly shifted her artistic focus from fine detail work to painting with a sense of freedom, uninhibited. Elizabeth now paints with an expressive vigor, aspiring to rouse an awakening or emotion in the viewer of her work. Elizabeth's work has been exhibited in Northern Ontario, Toronto, Ontario, Vancouver, and Victoria, British Columbia. Her work has also been featured in several magazines. Most recently, Elizabeth's work was featured in 'Women in Art 278' magazine and Art Quench Magazine's Masters Edition. Elizabeth's themes resonate with her inner passions and reflect her deep appreciation for artistic exploration. Spontaneous inspiration often brings her into the studio for 8 to 15-hour days. Even driving down a country road and seeing a breathtaking field of sunflowers or seeing the way light sparkles on a koi pond can spark a creative download; for Elizabeth, inspiration is everywhere. Artist's Statement: To me, art is everything. I have been painting my whole life. I take my inspiration from nature. I express my love for our earth, and every living creature on it, plant and animal, through my paintings. Always striving to make an impact and leave the observer of my work in awe. Exciting things are happening in the studio. Recently, I have found my strong attraction to abstract painting guiding my direction. My focus is on exploring Abstract-Expressionism with spontaneity, personal expression, and freedom.
