ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Drawn on sanded paper made for pastels. Matted to fit a 24" x 36" standard glass frame. Carl Jung wrote of the tension of opposites and holding space for them even though it is uncomfortable to live between a paradox. "We constantly encounter opposites, polarities, differences, contrasts, and inequlity in our dreams [life] Our task becomes one of holding the tension in between opposites until a third thing happens. The third will be a deeper more profound insight, a new standpoint. an expanded awarenes and we will feel new understanding as though our awareness has increased our circumference." Joseph Campbell

In reflecting on stories and observing nature, I see the whole range of human experience manifesting itself. Incompleteness is a human condition. Finding meaning in nature, art, and our lives helps to alleviate this inherent human condition. In my art, I strive to convey a sense of wonder and mystery. I hope the viewer can see themselves and find their own story, meaning, and symbols in the struggles we all encounter but sometimes have trouble articulating.
