This artistic creation, titled "The Golden Smile - Jack Johnson," is the work of Innocent TWAGIRUMUKIZA. The artist uses black acrylic on white paper. Dimensions: 50 cm X 70 cm. It depicts the famous American boxer Jack Johnson, the first black heavyweight world champion. This artwork is characterized by its minimalist and contrasting artistic representation. Clean contours and simple forms capture the essence of the subject, avoiding any superfluous elements. Despite a white background, clever use of contrasts creates the opposite illusion, forming an entirely black background where sculpted white shapes emerge to reveal facial features. The facial characteristics are simplified and stylized, offering an abstract interpretation of the subject. The eyes, nose, and mouth remain clearly visible but are depicted with clean lines. This duality of color is an original and creative creation that echoes the contrast of the boxer's strength and joy against the adversity of racism. This work of art embodies a modern and contemporary aesthetic through its minimalist approach, paying tribute to this historic and inspiring figure who left an indelible mark on the history of sports and the fight against racism.

🇬🇧 Passionate about sculpture and painting, I developed my own technique in a self-taught way. I started to exhibit my works to the public during my law studies at the Panthéon Sorbonne University, where I discovered the pleasure of sharing my artistic vision. In 2004, after obtaining my law degree, I deepened my knowledge of sculpture at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in London. Back in France, I continued to train at the Ateliers des Beaux Arts de the city of Paris in 2015, while continuing my artistic creation. I sculpt with different mediums: wood, clay, stone, paper. I let the final shape of the work reveal itself through the sculpting process. I compose my works with several objects, sometimes sculpted at different times. I assemble them harmoniously to express an idea, a feeling, a movement or a sound.
