About The Artwork

Thanks to Donna Tartt's novel (and the movie), everyone is now familiar with Carel Fabritius's painting "The Goldfinch". Curiously enough, about 500 images of the bird have come down to us from the great master's contemporaries. But it is the work of Fabritius that's considered a masterpiece. Because he was the first to portray just a bird. No Christ, no Madonna, no saints - just the animal. This work is a tribute to the great master and his "minimalist" approach. The strawberry finch dappled in red, the first color that man discovered, emphasizing the beauty of this little creature. This drawing was done on iPad with Apple pencil.
