ABOUT THE ARTWORK

At the time I created this piece, I didn't know much about meditation, but I tried to convey the peaceful state that is beyond the surface of existence.

Kinga Lőrincz paints figures with different elements of nature and the female presence has a major focal point in her work. She explores the realities of impermanence and the subtle, flowing nature of all manifestation. Her work highlights the change, and movement that is the ecstatic dance of the universe. Shadow and light is often portrayed with exaggerated hues and vivid colors, working together in balance to bring an ethereal quality to the subjects. Figures appear in different states of mind, moments of peace, self-reflection, realization, and Zen as their bodies are graced by this flowing entrapment. The form arises from chaos and after a time it disintegrates back into formlessness in an endless dance. Kinga’s work is an invitation to meditate upon the impermanence of form, the interconnection of creation, and the constant dance of change. There is also no darkness as compared to light –all manifestation is self -luminous and empty by nature. By applying a poetic and often metaphorical language, she finds that movement reveals an inherent awkwardness, a humor that echoes our own vulnerabilities. The artist also considers movement as a metaphor for the ever-seeking man who experiences a continuous loss. Kinga Lorincz currently lives and works in Romania.
