About The Artwork

By marriage a Saxon-German princess as once Irish, the title as American princess, Avis Colleen Kennedy of the Schwaninger (Swanger) Archducal-Grand Ducal family, is here portrayed. This is a usual in the tradition of old master and common usage preparatory drawing prior to painting in oil on canvas, a Goya sarcastic style based on Jean A.D. Ingres' praising sycophantic photographic style, based on the all-blue hoopskirt Princess Broglie portrait in New York. I hope this at least displays some of the variety of my work. The painting, in the collection of the subject as gift of the artist, includes a bird reference for the Latin word as her name Avis, as a traditional Southern reference of a lady bird as elegant. A headband tiara and an artist-made artistic crown of tinted brilliants are in the drawing but left out of the portrait, displayed as detail here. The drawing line quality is of the controlled quality of Degas but with references to Ingres-Delacroix. It is presented in a cream-colored mat.
