A few photos of fern forest I took on our trip south of the south island of New Zealand inspired this drawing. Moisture in the forest atmosphere of south end Pacific wraps the glowing moon and makes it more of an open lamp. I watched the southern moon many winters and thought one day I would be drawing it. I also love the ferns under the soft and delicate foliage of New Zealand native forest. This drawing of "The Southern Moon" follows by a series relating to life of Kiwi birds that have fascinate me since.
