ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I recommend an ordered print should be a one to one sizing to the original; 15 inches by 20 inches with at least an inch border surrounding it. Inspiration comes from the figurative artists I look at. I hope the viewer will feel perhaps a familiarity with the idea of school and students and old school books. I like to work with scratchboard as a black and white medium because the finished piece looks like an etching but made without the chemicals and processes. I also like to create the characters and their worlds.

Scott Gillis is an illustrator and fine artist living in New York City, downtown near Soho. Gillis was born in Kenmore, NY and grew up in North Tonawanda; near Buffalo and Niagara Falls, New York State. He moved to New York City after graduating from school and began working as a free lance illustrator for various magazines and a few record companies. Scott also played guitar in an underground New York band called Konk, whose music can be found at London Soul Jazz.
