The work is one of many drawings I started during corona time when confronted with the question - what I do as an artist when I have almost nothing - just pen and paper. I was inspired by the nature as a constant comfort and source of answers.

Hello! I am glad to meet you! My name is Ivana Filip. I am a Croatia born and based artist, activist and researcher. I work and live in Split and Zagreb, Croatia. My practice grows from visual art and stretches through multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary work, across performance, live work, video, photography and mixed media. It has developed from body-based to movement and interspecies collaborations including performances with dogs and their human companions, dog hair tapestry and interspecies collaboration research with free-roaming cats. In the last few years, my quest has been human-nonhuman relationships and more-than-human creativity. To achieve these I use tools from anthrozoology, ethology, anthropology, animal studies, sociology, spirituality, activism, indigenous methodologies, ecofeminism and personal experiences. I earned my Master of Economics at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb, Master of Arts at the Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts in Tilburg and Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. My work has been shown locally, nationally and internationally, in non-profit spaces, libraries, symposiums, galleries and museums. In addition to my artistic practice, I volunteer, engage in activism, write, mentor and collaborate with various humans and nonhumans including cats, dogs, sea, books, air, plants, wind, leftovers, recyclables, branches. Very much I enjoy walking with my cat collaborator Ixxo and playing at home with cat collaborators Cici and Lili, learning about the interconnectedness of all life.
