ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Drawing for a band called Okabre Records. This is part of a commissioned work that gave me a lot of freedom to experiment while listening to the band's music. The style is somewhat dense and dark, so I wanted to make drawings that convey this feeling.

Lucia Retamar is an Argentine multidisciplinary artist specialized in drawing, with a recent foray into textile art. Her work addresses issues related to emotions, with an emphasis on the psychological aspects and consequences of anxiety, female condition and migration, themes that are part of her story. Lucia uses drawing and textiles as a medium within her experimental processes and is interested in new methodologies and sociologies of the processes by which the image is arrived at, such as drawing with her eyes closed, letting her hand remember and solve alone, without the help of sight. She also uses illustration as a medium in her artistic processes, often collaborating with different writers and being inspired by her texts to generate her own interpretations. In addition, she is a fashion designer so the new textile research has opened a new field of exploration in an area that is well known such as fabric and pattern making, from a different vision such as embroidery combined with acrylic paint on canvas, scraps and clothing. Her work has been exhibited internationally, such as in Peru (Galería Itinerant María, Lima), Argentina (Galería Essa, Córdoba), Algeria (Le petit Lecteur, Oran) and Austria (Pädagogische Hoch-schule der Diözese, Linz) , in addition to Barcelona (Cage, Tangent, Untitled, Art Lover Ground, Fabra i Coats, Center Civic Sagrada Familia, among others), the latter being the city where she currently resides.
