Valerie owned Aladdin's lamp for a while, but the dreadful man who lived inside it completely refused to put on a decent shirt and so she eventually sold it at the local church swap meet after an embarassing incident that occurred when the vicar came for lunch. This is a small portrait of a lovely, genteel, bird lady in a dramatic lambswool cloak and a blue and white rose print, floral, silk, frock. Her lovely wee head and the body of her cloak are both painted in a warm amber toned brown while the roses and cuffs of her dress, and her sweet, vaguely 1920's hat are a soft grey blue. The monarch butterfly on her shoulder is the same vivid orange as her beak. Splashes and an ink wash in the amber color complete the piece. I love painting these whimiscal portraits of my imaginary friends, coming up with little anecdotes about their lives and then sending them off into the universe. This painting would be very sweet in a childs room, or really any room. The piece will ship securely packaged in an envelope, sleeved and attached to a backing board. This artwork was created using neocolor crayons, watercolor paints and acrylic inks over an initial ballpoint pen drawing in black ink. The paper I use is hot press, white, 100% cotton rag, acid free and expected to last an extraordinarily long time.
